We can still win the Scudetto – Totti

(GSM) – Roma captain Francesco Totti believes the title race is still open despite their recent dismal run.

Roma currently lie third in the Serie A, but they have stumbled of late drawing each of their last three games. The Giallorossi are six points adrift of league leaders Internazionale and five behind second-placed Milan.

Writing in Il Corriere dello Sport, Totti congratulated Inter on their progress in the Champions League, but also warned them that Roma won’t make it easy for them at home.

“On Tuesday we saw a wonderful evening of international football between the leaders of the Italian League and one of the most important and highly rated clubs in the world, the Chelsea of Carlo Ancelotti.

“Whoever expected Inter to go and challenge Chelsea with a typically Italian attitude with everyone back in defence, breaking on the counter attack, was wrong.

“It made me happy as an Italian that Inter went through to the next round, above all for the UEFA co-efficient and the participation of Italian teams in the Champions League.

“There are still three places plus one for the preliminaries, so our clubs have strong guaranteed revenues and can allow themselves to sign champions of great value.

“This title race is still open for all the positions in the table: the Scudetto, the Champions League, Europa League and survival.

“Even teams like Siena, who seemed doomed, have shown that they know how to play good football and that they are in good physical condition and are never beaten, like the Tuscans demonstrated in front of a great team like Juventus.

“So from here until the end of the season everything is still to play for and we can reserve ourselves a few surprises.

“As for me, I am recovering and trying to find a sufficient physical condition. It’s clear, I would like to make myself available to the team as soon as possible, but this will be done at the right moment, between the end of March and the beginning of April,” he concluded.
