Inter coach Stefano Pioli has warned Serie A’s top three that his side are yet to reach their “peak”, despite Saturday’s 3-0 triumph over Pescara taking their winning streak to seven league matches.

Pioli has overseen a remarkable improvement since replacing Frank de Boer in the Inter dugout in November, instilling belief and character into a team that previously lacked cohesion.

Now they look destined to mount a challenge for a Champions League spot, with Saturday’s win at San Siro moving Inter up to fourth above Lazio after their defeat at home to Chievo earlier in the day.

Inter will now turn their attentions to a potentially crucial week in their season, as they face Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals before heading to Turin to take on Serie A pacesetters Juventus.

“On Tuesday there’s a do-or-die match in a competition we really care about,” he told Mediaset.

“So we must remain concentrated. We want to play in the Inter style in Turin and take the initiative.

“We’re doing good things, but I am sure we can do even better. I have players of a high level, but we’ve not yet reached our peak and that should give us real confidence going forward.

“We’ve done nothing yet, we are not in the position we want to be or playing the football we want.”
