All the noise made around Emmanuel Adebayor this summer seems to have come to nothing. AC Milan are unlikely to follow up their interest in the pricey Togo striker and the reported £24 million bid from Barcelona would not be enough to convince Wenger into selling his striker.
As a result, Arsene Wenger remains confident that Adebayor will continue to play his football in London. But, the French manager remained firm on the issue of the player’s salary.
“I am always ready to fight to get my players the maximum wages, but they have to respect we have a wage structure and will not break it. All I know is I want to keep him here. I am confident I will,” said Wenger according to The Guardian.
Reports earlier in the summer suggested that Adebayor was interested in a higher pay-check than his current £35,000 per week and that Arsenal would have to match his demands in order to keep him at the Emirates Stadium. Now it looks like nothing will change for Adebayor this summer.
