Wenger rejected Campbell loan approaches

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he rejected several loan approaches for Joel Campbell in the summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Costa Rica international has spent most of his Gunners career so far out on loan in spells with Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiacos and Villareal.

However, he has featured ten times for the North London side in all competitions so far this season, and grabbed his first goal in last month’s 3-0 win at Swansea City.

At the age of 23, Campbell has racked up over one hundred and fifty club appearances with he has an impressive fifty-five caps for his country, and was part of their squad for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil where he scored one of his eleven international goals.

Arsenal extended their winless run in the league to three games after only drawing with Norwich City on Sunday evening – a result which has left them two points behind leaders Manchester City.
