Wenger set for summer clear out

Arsene Wenger could be ready to move on up to four members of his first team at the end of the season, according to the Express.

The Gunners boss, who is lining up a £20m move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, is set to part company with a number of his fringe players to free up funds.

Abou Diaby could be the first out of the door, with the 28 year old having made just one appearance in all competitions so far this season as he continues to struggle with injury, while fellow midfielders Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini may also be under threat.

Centre back Per Mertesacker’s future at the Emirates Stadium is also the subject of much speculation, with Wenger also considering making a bid for Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti.

Arsenal beat Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday evening to remain in third place, nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
