Werder in ambitious bid for Klose

Bundesliga strugglers Werder Bremen are considering a bid for Lazio striker Miroslav Klose, acording to Sport Bild.

The veteran striker has a contract until the end of the season at Stadio Olimpico, but he could be leaving the Biancocelesti in January considering that he is unhappy with his status at the club.

Klose, 36, has been playing second fiddle to summer recruit Filip Djordjevic and only managed five Serie A starts this season.

His former club Werder Bremen aim to offer the veteran an escape route from Stadio Olimpico, with managing director Thomas Eichin confirming their interest.

“If Miroslav Klose gets on the market, we will work on it, of course,” Eichin confessed to Sport Bild. “He has a great Werder past and a very good name in Bremen.”

It was at Weserstadion that Klose made a name for himself, scoring 53 goals in 89 league appearances to earn a lucrative move to Bayern Munich.

His former club Werder Bremen currently sit in the Bundesliga relegation zone and can be backed at 11/8 shot to get relegated.
