Werder want Admir Mehmedi

Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen are readying a summer bid for Freiburg forward Admir Mehmedi, according to Bild.

The Weserstadion outfit are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements given that star player Franco Di Santo will be leaving at the end of the season.

And while they have already secured the signature of Anthony Ujah, Werder are now showing interest in Admir Mehmedi.

The Swiss forward can play as a second striker or on either wing, and despite scoring mere three league goals this term, he has done enough to catch the eye of Freiburg’s Bundesliga rivals.

Mehmedi has a contract until June 2019 with his current employers, but Werder are widely expected to trigger his €5 million release clause this summer.

The 24-year-old joined Freiburg two years ago from Dynamo Kiev and he largely impressed in his first ever Bundesliga campaign, bagging 12 goals in 32 outings for the club.
