West Brom keen on Lambert

West Bromwich Albion are ready to make a move to sign Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert, according to the Telegraph.

The England international has been told he can find a new club after failing to establish himself as a first team regular in Brendan Rodgers’ side, and the Baggies are keen to win the race to secure his services.

With Christian Benteke’s Anfield arrival imminent, fellow Belgium international Divock Origi returning from a season long loan with Lille and Danny Ings having been drafted in from Burnley, Lambert has moved even further down the pecking order at the Merseyside club.

Daniel Sturridge struggled with injury last season but will hope to return revitalised, while Mario Balotelli is still on the club’s books, but looks set to move on himself.

Lambert played thirty-six times in all competitions for Liverpool last season, though he started just seven league games and scored just three times in total.
