West Brom linked with big money Benteke bid

West Bromwich Albion may need to break their transfer record if they are to sign Christian Benteke according to the Guardian.

The Belgium international appears to have played his last game for the Reds though the Merseyside club are keen on recouping much of the £32.5m they laid out for him just twelve months ago.

Benteke made just fourteen league starts last season, scoring nine goals and slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of manager Jurgen Klopp.

Prior to his move to Anfield, the twenty-five year old racked up one hundred and one appearances for Aston Villa, scoring forty-nine goals.

Most recently, the former Genk man was with Belgium for the European Championships earlier this summer but played just eleven minutes of football, making brief substitute appearances against both Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.

West Brom start the season with a trip to Crystal Palace and can be backed at 7/2 for the win.
