West Brom reject Manchester City bid for Evans

West Bromwich Albion have turned down a £18m bid from Manchester City for defender Jonny Evans, according to the Guardian.

The Premier League title favourites have already spent over £125m on new defenders this summer though they have concentrated on full-backs as opposed to cente-backs.

With two weeks remaining in the transfer window manager Pep Guardiola is keen on bringing in more reinforcements but will need to look elsewhere with the Baggies insisting that their captain is not for sale at any price.

After making almost two hundred appearances for Manchester United where he won three Premier League titles and two League Cups, Evans moved to the Hawthorns.

In just over two seasons with the club he has played sixty-five times, scoring three goals while he has been capped sixty-one times for Northern Ireland.

He played at the 2016 European Championships while his one and only international goal came almost six-and-a-half years ago in a World Cup qualifier against Poland.
