West Brom secure Barry deal

West Bromwich Albion have signed Gareth Barry on an initial one year deal from Everton, according to Sky Sports.

The thirty-six year old, who missed the Toffees opening day win over Stoke City with an ankle problem had one year remaining on his contract with the Merseyside outfit.

However, following a plethora of new arrivals at Goodison Park he has decided to move on as he closes in on Ryan Giggs’ all time Premier League appearance record.

He is just five shy of the former Manchester United man’s tally of six hundred and thirty-two and could pass that figure next month.

Having signed for Everton initially on loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2013, the former England man racked up one hundred and fifty-five appearances in all competitions over four years and was named as their Player of the Year last season.

He also spent twelve years in Aston Villa’s first team prior to his move to Manchester.
