Callum McManaman could make his West Brom debut against Tottenham and head coach Tony Pulis wants the winger to fulfil his potential.

Tony Pulis has urged new signing Callum McManaman to make the most of his opportunity to return to the Premier League ahead of a potential West Brom debut for the winger against Tottenham on Saturday.

McManaman arrived at The Hawthorns on a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday and goes straight into the squad this weekend.

The 23-year-old has swapped a relegation battle with Wigan Athletic for another spell in the top flight and Pulis is expecting big things from his new recruit.

He said: “We’ve spent a lot of time chasing him.

“He has good ability, can score a goal, and we need people to create chances and take opportunities in the final third, and he’s proven at this level.

“I like having wide players in the team who can run up and down the pitch, can take the team up the pitch, and the crowd like players who can take individuals out of a game, and Callum can do that.

“We had that at Stoke with [Matthew] Etherington and [Jermaine] Pennant, and at Crystal Palace with [Yannick] Bolasie and [Jason] Puncheon.

“After being out of the Premier League for a while he’s desperate to come back in, do well and put his mark on it.

“I’ve spoken to a lot of people about him and I feel I’ve a drift on his personality and character.

“The important thing is he really concentrates on his football now and fulfils his enormous potential.”

Pulis has enjoyed an unbeaten start to his Albion tenure, with last weekend’s FA Cup victory at local rivals Birmingham City making it three victories out of four for the former Stoke City boss.

Resurgent Albion will be out to bring Tottenham back down to earth after the London club drew 2-2 at Sheffield United on Wednesday to secure a two-legged success and ensure they will meet Chelsea in the League Cup final.

Albion secured one of their two away victories to date this season at White Hart Lane back in September, courtesy of James Morrison’s strike, and another three points could see them move further clear of the relegation zone.

Defender Jonas Olsson (Achilles) returned to training this week and Pulis has no other injury problems to contend with.

Mauricio Pochettino may opt to make several changes following his side’s midweek exertions.

Tottenham occupy sixth spot in the table and will be eager to build momentum ahead of a London derby against Arsenal next weekend, which will be followed by a trip to Liverpool.
