(GSM) – West Ham are interested in signing England star David Beckham to the club. The Premier League club’s co-owner David Gold wants to lure Beckham to Upton Park.
Gold believes Beckham would welcome a move that would take him back to his London roots. The club co-owner thinks the former Manchester United player would be an excellent “ambassador” for the club.
Gianfranco Zola’s side are currently battling to beat the Premier League drop, however their owner reckons the club could offer an end to his seven-year absence from the top-flight of English football.
“It’s not only a case of what he can do on the pitch but what he does off it – he’d be a sensational ambassador for his home-town club.
“He’s a local boy like the two owners and this could appeal to him.
“It’s not fanciful as he has so much to offer. His arrival would be massive.”
Beckham, who had hoped to go to the World Cup this summer, saw his dream to feature with the England squad after suffering from a ruptured Achilles tendon.
