After Liverpool beat Lazio 1-0 in a friendly match yesterday Rafa Benitez spoke about the need to improve his squad.
“We can improve the squad, so we will try to do that. We will bring in one more player if we can. I do not know when but clearly we have problems on the left, Kewell has gone, Aurelio is injured and Leto cannot get a work permit. Babel is away in the Olympic Games. Maybe he can come back and fill that role, but I know we can improve in this area. Who comes in? It could be another left-sided player rather than a central midfielder. Maybe he can play in three different positions, that is a positive thing. I am talking about one player, but I won’t say the name.”
It’s a shame that Rafa refused to name the player as we’ll never know who he was talking about!! Why would Rafa refuse to name Gareth Barry. It has hardly come as a shock that he is interested in signing him!!
I wish they would just get on and sign him and put an end to all the speculation.

Got something to say?

He also went on to say that the problem of signing is not one of money! ???????
If the yanks block this purchase, due to Barry not being a ‘good investment’ after having read a few uneducated forums, all hell will break loose.
Rafa knows what he is doing, we have been lacking a defensive , left sided player for a while. Riise was not good enough. Barry will add balance and versatility, beyond what alonso can offer. Alonso has more class and a wider range of passing, yet when it comes to the week to week rigors of the EPL, Barry is more suited.
If we can’t buy Barry, lets just go for silva.
I totally trust Rafa, but I just wish he would just come out and say it’s Barry. Perhaps it’s not, perhaps it is worse, perhaps it’s Downing!!!! Personally, I would prefer to keep Xabi and use whatever cash we may have to go for Silva or a similar quality player.
looking at the game last nite i and any body
who saw it will tell you we still need wingers bote sides<<<<<<<<< i like Dirk Kuyt and he can do a job there but come on he is no winger it dont matter who we get barry, silva dont matter just get a winger or we will win noting agan
yeah rite, bring in robinho, kaka, sergio ramos, villa, adriano, cannavaro, mourinho, arshavin, pavlyuchenko, sneijder, toure, fabregas, ibrahimovic, schweinsteiger, messi, gonzales, hernandez, gomez, tevez, chavez, abouba, bakayako, diarra, amuba, kanu, entot, totti, cuper, wenger, ancelotti and many more. even bring in the crowds. yeah rite! and may the reds burn and sink so deep to relegation.
Benitez should sign more players that is capable of winning premiership and champions league.
I wasnt very happy when I saw the match with sunderland. But still I dont think that we need so much a another world class midfielder.I want see alonso get back in form, I want to see players team-up, and I will be sure that every game we will play much better. Anyway I stick with Rafa and I trust him , wiil see what will happen. Fortune Favours The Brave
Whoever must fill dat lacuna must be agile, vigorous and sensational to goals, for me., well i strongly recommend the nigeria born wave making (apam)
There has been this general perception wish i wonder if liverpool can’t take a leap above the hurdle of being rated among 4 best club in England. . Its absurd.
