Let’s explore further. This squad only lasted two years, from 2003-2005 (Becks arrived in summer 2003, Figo left summer 2005). So by your logic, the two times Madrid broke the transfer record to buy Figo and Zidane doesn’t factor in your interpretation of when the Galacticos existed. So, when Figo and Zidane helped win two Liga’s, one Champions League, and more, they weren’t Galacticos… Ronaldo also arrives in 2002, subsequently winning La Liga that year, but he’s not a Galactico yet either? So, Madrid, under your misguided opinion were only “Galacticos” two years, in which they didn’t win any trophies. Your whole argument is based on these TWO years they didn’t contribute to the trophy cabinet. Now I have a question for you, after Barca’s CL triumph in 2006, what did they win in 2007 and 2008? And you say Villarreal isn’t on a budget? They have quality players like Senna, Capdevila, Pires… That are in the twilight of their careers and won’t sign another big contract anywhere. Rossi is quality, but Pellegrini saw his class and snapped him up cheap before he became a star, same with Mati. And the reason they have more buying power than Osasuna (as if that’s hard to accomplish) is thanks to Pellegrini and how he guided Villarreal to consistent top half finishes in the league, and CL qualification. But compare his budget to that of other CL teams, they’re hardly on level terms.

Man U (like most clubs, especially “big” clubs ) have mountains of debt. Man U is one of the worst! Man U has close €1 billion of debt!!!
