Now that it appears that the transfer of Frank Lampard from Chelsea to Inter is not going to happen, the media are turning their attention to the question of why the move that seemed to be in the best interests of everyone has fallen through.
In the Daily Mirror this morning it is reported that Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri, formerly the Chelsea boss of course, has said that he believes Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich refused to let Frank Lampard join Inter Milan purely because the Russian billionnaire has never forgiven Jose Mourinho.
Surely that can’t be true, can it? A multi-million pound deal scuppered through personal rivalry and petty individual differences?
I don’t know if Ranieri knows what went on or is just speculating but what he says does have a sad ring of truth about it!
