Wigan closing in on striker

Owen Coyle has revealed that Wigan Athletic are close to bringing in a striker on loan, Sky Sports understands.

The name of the individual has not been confirmed, though it is believed to be Manchester United’s England U21 international Will Keane.

The Latics already have one of David Moyes’ players in their ranks in the shape of former Crewe Alexandra man Nick Powell, who has impressed in his time with the Championship club so far.

Their current selection of forwards have been relatively shy in the final third so far this season, with Grant Holt, Shaun Maloney and Marc-Antoine Fortune sharing out just six goals between them.

Keane, whose twin brother Michael is also on the books of the Premier League champions, has played just five minutes of first team club football in his career so far, after coming on as a substitute at the end of a 3-2 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in December 2011.
