Anzhi Makhachkala forward Willian was pleased with his debut for his new side in their 3-1 Europa League win over Hannover on Thursday.
The big-spending Russian club are in pole position to advance to the last 16 of the competition ahead of the second leg.
After setting up a goal on his first appearance, the Brazil international thanked supporters for their vocal efforts.
“The game was good and for me on my debut it turned out to be a positive one,” Willian told Anzhi’s website.
“I managed to provide an assist and even had a chance to score myself, but, unfortunately, I missed the chance.
“Things will get even better. Day by day, with more practice, they will. I will do my part diligently.
“They (the fans) rooted for us in the best manner, always cheering us on and not stopping for one minute.
“In Makhachkala, fans sit even closer to the field and support their team furiously, so I can only imagine what it is like there. I’d like to thank the fans for their support.”
The 24-year-old joined Anzhi from Shakhtar Donetsk in the January transfer window for a reported 35 million euros.
