Wolfsburg secure John Anthony Brooks signature

Reports from Germany claim that Bundesliga strugglers Wolfsburg have secured a surprising deal for the 24-year-old United States defender John Anthony Brooks.

 Having sealed their survival by beating Eintracht Braunschweig in an angry Bundesliga play-off which saw Braunschweig fans storm the pitch in protest after the 1-0 defeat, Wolfsburg have gone on to bolster their defence line by signing the Hertha Berlin defender.

German media outlet Bild was the first to break the surprising news, claiming that two sides have reached an agreement over a €17 million deal for the United States international.

Born and raised in Berlin, John Anthony Brooks came through the ranks of his hometown club and made a full debut for Hertha back in 2012.

Brooks has made the total of 125 league matches for the Berlin-based side.

The 24-year-old towering defender is a huge presence inside the box with his 193 cm and a proper aerial threat in from of the rivalling goal. He made 24 starts this season in the Bundesliga, scoring 2 goals along the way.
