Wolfsburg to make shock bid for Holland World Cup star; Benfica closing in on Chelsea and Man Utd target

Wolfsburg to make shock bid for Holland World Cup star

Wolsfburg are pondering bid for Bayern midfielder Mark van Bommel as the Wolves search for midfield reinforcements.

After failing to lure Anatoliy Timoschtschuk and Jermaine Jones, Wolsfburg sporting manager Dieter Hoeness is eager to sign Mark van Bommel.

“We always want hard-tackling players like Van Bommel. I would be happy if we had someone like him in the team,” said Hoeness.

Van Bommel’s contract expires at the end of the season and after failing to agree a new deal with Bayern, he looks set to leave Alianz Arena.

The Dutch midfielder is aware of Wolfsburg interest.

“Wolfsburg have a good team. Of course, there is now a lot of transfer speculation. But, I wouldn’t like to contribute to the speculation.”

Bayern have already lined up a replacement for Van Bommel, which proves they have come to terms with losing the battling midfielder, so Wolfsburg definitely have a good chance to sign the Dutch international.

Benfica closing in on Chelsea and Man Utd target

Benfica are readying new bid for River Plate striker Rogelio Funes Mori as they seem to be winning the race for one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

The Eagles have already had bids of €6 million and €8 million rejected, but they are now ready to offer €9 million for the 19-year-old.

River president Daniel Passarella first wanted €15 million for the youngster but has since lowered his demands to €12 million, so everything suggests the two clubs will reach an agreement in the next couple of days.

The deal could still be scuppered should one of the interested clubs, which include Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus among others, make an official bid for the player, and that is exactly why Benfica will try to close the deal as soon as possible.

Benfica have so far proved to be a great stepping stone for young players from South America, and Funes Mori would definitely be better off joining Eagles than warming the bench at clubs like Chelsea or Manchester United.

Agent: Ronaldinho could return to Brazil

Ronaldinho’s agent, Roberto de Asis has confirmed that his client could return to Brazil amidst growing speculations regarding his future.

Ronaldinho is no longer considered a first team regular at Milan, having started just one of last eight matches and his agent has hinted the Brazilian could soon leave San Siro.

“Football evolves in such a rapid fashion,” Roberto de Asis said.

“Today a transfer away from Milan seems difficult, but I don’t know what will happen in the next few days. Everything can change suddenly.”

The Brazilian has been linked with clubs like Palmeiras and Flamengo.

“Returning to Brazilian would allow him to win the two titles he is missing, the Libertadores and the Brasileirao. It would be very important to add these to his trophy cabinet.

“Where could he go? A great deal depends on the club, the coach and the project that is proposed to him.”

Ronaldinho’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and it is now more than clear that it won’t be extended, so Milan could try to sell the Brazilian in January as the Rossoneri don’t want to risk losing him on free in January.
