Wylde announces Bolton move

Former Rangers winger Gregg Wylde claims to have agreed a deal with Premier League side Bolton Wanderers.

Wylde became a free agent after agreeing to leave Rangers without a redundancy package in a bid to save the cash-strapped Scottish Premier League side from administration.

And just 10 days since his exit from Ibrox, it appears the Scotland under-21 international has signed for Owen Coyle’s Bolton, although the club themselves are yet to confirm the deal.

The 20-year-old Wylde announced via Twitter: “Delighted and proud to have signed for Bolton. Been a tough few weeks and I’ll always be thankful to Rangers, but excited for a new challenge.”

Bolton manager Owen Coyle confirmed his interest in Wylde at a press conference on Friday.

Coyle said: “He is a very talented young player. He has played an awful lot of games at a young age for Rangers.”

“Without going overboard, he is one we would like at this football club. There is no doubt about that.”

If the deal is to go ahead, it must be given clearance by FIFA as rules state that free agents can only sign if they were without a club when the January transfer window closed.

As a result, Bolton may be unable to register Wylde until next season.
