(GSM) – Josep Guardiola’s is yet to make a decision on his future. It’s not sure if the succesful coach will stay with Barcelona next season.

Xavi has demonstrated his support for Guardiola. The playmaker hopes that Guardiola will stay at the Camp Nou.

“I can’t imagine a Barca without Guardiola,” Xavi said at a press conference.

“Pep is the best coach in the world and the best that this team could have.

“He is a fundamental cog in this machine and I think his contract renewal is imminent but it depends on him,” he added.

“I believe (Guardiola) wants to continue and that he is content here, that he feels important within the club,” Xavi said.

Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta has said Guardiola should decide by the beginning of April whether he planned to stay on and that he also wanted sporting director Txiki Begiristain to agree a new deal.

39-year-old Guardiola is in his second season with the Catalan side. The former midfielder led Barca to an unprecedented six trophies in 2009.
