(GSM) – Barcelona star Xavi has revealed that he is still struggling with his ankle injury despite playing in his club’s 2-1 victory over Valencia.

The World Cup-winning midfielder withdrew from Spain’s squad due to pain in his Achilles tendons.

However, he returned for Barca in their Primera Division clash against Valencia, setting up both goals as his side secured a vital win.

But the 30-year-old Xavi admits his ankle injury is still struggling him and tells Barca TV: “I’m well but they still bother me. I hope I get over it soon.

“I started well (against Valencia) but as the minutes passed I could feel the strain on my tendons.

“It’s a battle I have but thanks to the doctors and physios who look after me I’m sure I’ll get over it soon.”

Meanwhile Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, who substituted Xavi after 77 minutes against Valencia, said: “He isn’t ready to play every three days.”

The news casts doubt over the Catalan midfielder’s availability when the Spanish champions lock horns with København at home in the Champions League on Wednesday.
