Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura has revealed Xavi remains in doubt for the Champions League last-16 first leg against AC Milan.

Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura has revealed Xavi remains in doubt for the Champions League last-16 first leg against AC Milan.

The Spain star suffered a torn hamstring in the 1-1 La Liga draw with Valencia earlier in February, and has not been named in the squad to face Granada on Saturday.

Roura revealed the 33-year-old took part in training on Friday, but they would have to wait and see whether he would be fit for the clash with the Rossoneri.

“Xavi ready for Milan? He rejoined training, did almost all the exercises, but we have to wait and see a few days to see how he reacts,” Roura told a press conference.

Roura added David Villa is not fully fit following his renal colic problems this week, though the player himself confirmed to his followers on Twitter that he was able to train after being discharged from hospital.

“Today I have worked in the Training Ground after a few hard days! Thanks for all the messages you have sent me! A hug,” he posted.

“It’s a shame Villa’s rhythm is again broken by physical problems,” Roura commented.

“It was very painful, he’s logically not yet 100 percent fit.”

Roura also took time to praise Andres Iniesta following his sparkling performance in the 6-1 rout of Getafe.

“When he plays in midfield, Iniesta is fantastic. And when he plays on the wing, the same. There’s not much difference,” he said.
