Nigeria international Yakubu is poised to complete his move to Guangzhou R&F after landing in China earlier this week.
The representatives of the 29-year-old Blackburn Rovers striker, who scored 17 goals in the English Premier League last season, have been negotiating the six-million euro deal with Guangzhou R&F for the past week.
Yakubu has now landed in Guangdong to finalise the move, which R&F vice chairman Lu Yi said was ’99 percent done’.
“We are in final talks with him, and the negotiation is almost done. The job is 99 percent done,” Lu told Xinhua.
“If nothing goes wrong with the final one percent, we will start doing the registration in the Chinese league for him.”
Lu also said the club have chased Yakubu, who is their first choice during the Chinese transfer window, for the past ‘two months’.
Guangzhou R&F are fourth in the Chinese Super League after winning promotion to the top flight last term.
