Yaya Toure hopes for Manchester City comeback in title race

Yaya Toure has urged his Manchester City team-mates to draw inspiration from their title runs in 2012 and 2014 as he refuses to throw in the towel in the race for Premier League glory.

Pep Guardiola’s men beat Bournemouth 2-0 on Monday to climb into second place in the table, but they still find themselves trailing leaders Chelsea by eight points.

City found themselves in a similar situation during their two most recent league-winning campaigns, though, and Toure hopes they can pull off another comeback on their way to a fifth title.

“We are a little bit far away from Chelsea at the moment, and the way they are playing they will not let those points go,” Toure told the club’s official website.

“But we have to look forward and also remember 2012 and 2014 when we came from behind to win the trophy.

“We had a little bit of luck. We need to show consistency, and keep winning.

“Our next game is in the FA Cup but then we play Sunderland in the league, it will be another tough game away. It is a difficult, cold stadium and we have a very bad away record against them but we are in good form and can do this.”
