(GSM) – Fulham striker Bobby Zamora has undergone a successful operation on his broken leg.

The England international suffered a broken fibula when he fell under Karl Henry’s in Saturday’s 2-1 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Craven Cottage.

The 29-year-old was stretchered off and manager Mark Hughes admitted it could be at least January until Zamora get back to playing football.

Zamora, who scored 19 goals for Fulham last season, only signed a new four-year contract last Friday in a bid to keep him away from possible suitors.

And Fulham issued the following statement on the issue on Sunday:

“This morning, Bobby Zamora underwent an operation on the injury sustained in Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“The operation was viewed as successful by the surgeon and the fracture to the fibula was repaired, ligament damage was also discovered and repaired during the operation.”
