Javier Zanetti says Inter Milan’s 3-2 defeat against Atalanta on Sunday will not negatively affect their ambitions for 2012/13.

Inter recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Juventus last weekend to put the pressure on the Serie A leaders, but they were unable to keep up their good form in Bergamo.

“It was a game with lots of chances for both sides. You have to accept the result, Atalanta played well,” Zanetti told Inter Channel.

“They scored their second and third goals when we were on top, but that’s part of the game and the loss won’t alter the path we’re on.

“Admittedly they had us under pressure at times, but we responded superbly. (Atalanta goalkeeper Andrea) Consigli pulled off a string of great saves, though.

“When it was 3-1 they were more in control of things, then at 3-2 we went looking for the equaliser but it never came.”

Inter remain second in Serie A following this weekend’s results, trailing leaders Juventus by four points after 12 games.
