Zenit St Petersburg are readying bid for Rubin Kazan playmaker Roman Eremenko, Izvestia has revealed.

Given that Konstantin Zyryanov and Sergei Semak are in the closing stage of their careers, boss Luciano Spalletti plans to add some fresh blood to the centre of the park and is thought to be pondering a move for the Finland international.

Having lived to regret selling Sergei Semak and Aleksandr Bukharov to their rivals, Rubin Kazan chiefs are in no rush to respond to Zenit’s proposal.

Roman Eremenko has become an integral member of the squad in Kazan and is not for sale at the moment, but Luciano Spalletti believes a lucrative offer from St Petersburg will see him warm up to the idea of joining the Sky Blues.

Eremenko, 25, can play across a number of positions in midfield, but he is mostly used as a central midfielder at Rubin.

Since joining the club in a €13 million move from Dynamo Kiev, he has scored 5 goals in 35 Russian Premier League fixtures.
