Zinedine Zidane has praised Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the wake of the striker’s amazing performance for Sweden in their 4-2 win over England.

The Paris Saint-Germain man netted all four of his side’s goals to send England home disappointed, and his fine display – including an incredible overhead kick to score his fourth – caught the eye of Zidane.

“Ibrahimovic is an extraordinary player. I never managed to score four goals in a game,” Zidane said.

“It really was a magnificent performance. His overhead kick in particular was spectacular.”

The former Real Madrid playmaker was pleased France’s 2-1 friendly win over Italy on Wednesday, and voiced his belief that his country are moving in the right direction.

“They did the job. After (drawing against) Spain they confirmed that they are on the right track. It is not easy to win in Italy – I know that after difficult confrontations with Italy,” he said.

France’s next game is friendly against Germany at Stade de France on February 6.
