Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed that Chelsea forward Kevin De Bruyne is interested in a move to the club.
The 21-year-old, who joined Chelsea in January 2012, spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.
Belgium international De Bruyne is highly thought of across the European game and impressed observers again last term, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances for Bremen.
De Bruyne is yet to play a competitive fixture for Chelsea but that has not deterred Dortmund from declaring their intentions to bring him to the Westfalenstadion.
“We are interested in him,” Zorc told Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper.
“I can confirm the player is wanting to make a transfer to our club.”
De Bruyne has firmly established himself in the Belgium set-up but previously admitted that he may to leave Stamford Bridge to ensure selection for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which Belgium are yet to qualify for.
Chelsea have already signed Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen in the off-season, and with Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard all competing for places in attacking midfield, De Bruyne could well be considered surplus to requirements by manager Jose Mourinho.
