Gianni Zuiverloon has opted to leave Mallorca following the Spanish club’s relegation from La Liga.

The Dutch full-back joined Mallorca on a three-year deal in July 2011, following the expiry of his contract with Premier League outfit West Brom.

But, having made just 12 appearances in total during his debut campaign in Spain, Zuiverloon subsequently spent the 2012-13 season on loan with Heerenveen in the Eredivisie.

The defender has now opted not to see out the final year of his deal in the Segunda Division.

“Gianni has not opted for the money from another season (with) Mallorca, he now wants to make a completely new start,” his agent Winny Haatrecht told De Telegraaf.

Zuiverloon made 10 appearances in the Dutch top-flight for Heerenveen last season.
