Lukaku wants West Brom stay

The Daily Express is today reporting that West Bromwich Albion’s on-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku wants to stay with the Baggies for the remainder of the season, despite suggestions that the Blues will recall him in January.

Lukaku was really struggling to get a game with the European Champions after joining for a transfer fee of £18 million from Anderlecht, which is why he went to the Hawthorns, on loan.

This season, the Belgian has impressed in the English Premier League for Steve Clarke’s side, scoring three goals already and is likely to start in this evening’s fixture against Southampton.

Although Lukaku is on a season-long-loan at West Brom, Chelsea do have the chance to recall him in the New Year and with their problems going forward at the moment, they may be tempted to do just that.

Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge are the two men that Roberto Di Matteo has to call upon up-front and if their form dips between now and January, the 19-year-old may be heading back to Stamford Bridge.

However, Lukaku seems to want to stay in the Midlands and play regular first-team football, which he is not guaranteed at Chelsea.

If he continues to score goals, then the forward could be key to the Blues title hopes.
