Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana to join Inter as free agent

Andre Onana will join Inter Milan as a free agent when his contract with Ajax expires in the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. Apparently, the agreement between the goalkeeper and the Serie A champions has been reached in full and the contract, set to keep him in Milan for the following five years on a salary worth a guaranteed sum of €3 million per season, has already been signed. The medical ahead of the move was done on Tuesday.

Having gone through the ranks at Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, the Cameroonian left the Catalan club’s Under-19 side to join Ajax in 2015. Since then, he’s gone on to stand between the posts for them 206 times, keeping a clean sheet on 84 occasions. Onana is a Cameroon international, with 20 senior caps under his belt so far.

The 25-year-old was banned from all football activities from February to November last year, having accidentally taken medication intended for his wife which contained a substance not allowed for professional athletes.
