(GSM) – The Algerian government plans to airlift hundreds of fans to Angola to support their national team during Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations semi final clash with arch rivals Egypt.

Few fans have managed to travel to Angola to support their respective teams so far, mostly due to high costs and visa issues.

Remembering the support of Algeria’s team in November’s World Cup play-off with Egypt in Sudan, the nation’s government is trying to create a similar atmosphere when the two sides meet again in Angola.

“There is already a programma at government level, and not just ideas, to allow hundreds of supports to travel to Angola,” according to minister of foreign affairs Mourad Medcli.

Algeria and Egypt face each other in Thursday’s second semi final, after the clash between Ghana and Nigeria.
