Marcos Alonso has signed a new contract with Chelsea, the London club have confirmed.
The Spaniard has been in negotiations over a new deal for a while now, and the terms have now finally been agreed. He is set to remain a Chelsea player for a fresh period of five years.
Club director Marina Granovskaia said they were delighted with Alonso putting pen to paper on a new deal as he had developed into a very important player for the team, a Premier League champion and Spain international.
The feeling is obviously mutual. The left back himself also expressed his excitement by saying he was very happy to be extending his stay at ‘one of the best teams in the world’. He added that the two seasons he had spent at Stamford Bridge were very good and was looking forward to more.
Since his arrival to London, Alonso made 92 appearances and scored 15 goals for the Blues.
