Arsenal are confident of beating Newcastle United to the signing of Real Madrid attacking midfielder Eden Hazard in the summer transfer window, according to Defensa Central. The report in the Spanish news outlet has claimed that Premier League duo Arsenal and Newcastle want to sign the former Chelsea star, who can also operate as a winger.
Arsenal reportedly believe that Martin Odegaard’s strong relationship with Hazard will convince the 31-year-old Belgium international to move to move to the Gunners. Norway international attacking midfielder Odegaard played with Hazard at Madrid.
Hazard has made seven starts and 10 substitute appearances in La Liga for Madrid so far this season, providing one assist in the process. The Belgium international, who can also play as a winger, has made one start and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for Los Blancos so far this campaign.
