Arsenal are confident of signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun. Zubimendi turned down a move to Liverpool last summer after having a late change of heart, but Premier League rivals Arsenal are confident that the Spain international midfielder will not do th same this time around.
Real Madrid are also interested in Zubimendi, but Arsenal are confident that the midfielder will move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Sociedad star has a release clause of £51million in his contract, and Arsenal plan to trigger it after convincing him to join Mikel Arteta’s team.
Zubimendi came through the Sociedad youth system to establish himself in the first team and is now widely said to be one of the best midfielders in the world. The 26-year-old made his Spain debut in 2021 and has played 17 times since, winning the UEFA European Championship in 2024 and the UEFA Nations League in 2023.
