Arsenal considering loaning out Ozil in January

The club are eager to loan out Mesut Ozil because he simply isn’t paying off, reports Mirror. The outlet claims the Gunners are prepared to subsidise the German’s wages because even so the club would be saving money, considering how much it is currently paying for a player that has barely been seen on the pitch this season.

At £350,000 a week, the 30-year-old is the highest paid player at Arsenal, quite a lot when you consider that under Emery the midfielder has practically been invisible in the 2019/2020 season. He participated in only two of the club’s matches so far, once in the 2-2 draw against Watford in the Premier League and then in the 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

Ozil has been at Arsenal since the autumn of 2013 and has two more years of his current contract. The club have tried to loan him out this past summer, but the German was reluctant to go, so the same issue may arise in the January transfer window should he not change his mind. Fenerbahce were the only club that showed any real interest in signing the German in the summer, but were priced out of the move.
