Arsenal hold talks over signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Arsenal have held talks over signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio in the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato. The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Lazio’s sporting director, Igli Tare, went to London at the end of June and held talks with Arsenal over a transfer for the 27-year-old Serbia international midfielder.

There are two problems for a potential deal, according to Calciomercato. Milinkovic-Savic is not immediately keen on a move to Arsenal, and Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito is asking for at least €70-80 million in transfer fees for the midfielder.

Milinkovic-Savic has been on the books of Lazio since 2015 and has established himself as an important player in the team. The Serbian is also rated as one of the best midfielders in Italy.

Milinkovic-Savic made 36 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A for Lazio last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists in the process.

The experienced midfielder also made four starts and four substitute appearances in the Europa League last season, scoring one goal and giving one assist in the process.
