Arsenal are hoping to get the signing of Denis Suarez from Barcelona done some time during this week, according to the Mirror.
Suarez, who turned 25 earlier this month, has been on the fringes of the team at Camp Nou for a long time, and he has been linked with a move to Arsenal recently. Numerous reports from both sides of the English Channel have hinted that a deal is getting closer, but Barcelona were apparently very reluctant to sanction it halfway through the season.
However, that stance now appears to have changed. It looks as if the Catalans were actually waiting to get the incoming transfers for this month done before starting to think seriously about departures. Manager Ernesto Valverde has revealed that he is happy with his squad, following the arrivals of centre-back Jeison Murillo on loan from Valencia and striker Kevin Prince Boateng, also on loan, from Sassuolo.
He now says that the players who aren’t playing regularly may be allowed to leave this month, should they wish to do so.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is confident of reuniting with Suarez, whom he coached for a while during his time at Sevilla.
