Arsenal on verge of signing Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal are set to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic. It has been reported that the Gunners are on the verge of finalising an agreement with the Blades over the transfer of Ramsdale.

United, who are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League, initially wanted £40 million for the 23-year-old English goalkeeper. However, Arsenal have agreed to pay the Blades an initial £24 million upfront and a possible further £6 million in add-ons.

Ramsdale will now have to agree personal terms with Arsenal. The North London club have offered the youngster a four-year contract with the option of a fifth. The goalkeeper will provide cover for Bernd Leno, who is the first-choice. However, Ramsdale is a very good goalkeeper and is only 23, and he could eventually dislodge Leno from his place in the starting lineup.
