The likely departure of hugely talented German midfielder Mesut Ozil will leave a gaping hole in the midfield of Premier League giants Arsenal, and it is little surprise that the North London club are in the market for a replacement. Reports this week suggest that manager Arsene Wenger may have found the perfect man for the job in Inter Milan’s Joao Mario, according to the Express.
The Portuguese international has fallen out of favour somewhat in Italy, just 18 months after his high profile £40m move from Sporting Lisbon. Mario has started just three Serie A games so far this season, despite featuring 30 times in the last campaign, and he is yet to find the back of the net this year.
His lack of consistent game time may allow Arsenal to bring the midfielder in for a decent price, and according to reports he could be claimed for as little as £26m. This could be a brilliant move by Wenger for a player who certainly has an abundance of talent.
