Goal.com reports that AS Roma are now resigned to losing Mancini. The skilled Brazilian winger has been offered to Barcelona in exchange for France left-back Eric Abidal. Abidal has had a rather difficult season with Barca and now the Catalan club might think about letting him go only one year after he came. AS Roma’s bid could well be taken into consideration by Barcelona.
Mancini could be an attractive option for the Catalan club as they will look to fill that left flank after the imminent departure of Ronaldinho. Andres Iniesta was deployed in that position for some time this season, however he has repeatedly shown that he is at his most lethal when he operates through the middle.
This is not the first part-exchange deal that Barcelona are thought to have considered. Earlier this month reports in Italy suggested that Samuel Eto’o was offered in exchange for Inter Milan defender Chivu and, when that bid failed, they used the Cameroonian striker to try to convince the Milan team to sell Zlatan Ibrahimovich.
Barcelona are clearly trying to cut down on spending by trying to use barter. However, not many clubs are interested in washed up superstars which is what many people think of the likes of Ronaldinho, Deco and Eto’o.
