Aubameyang pulls out of Arsenal contract talks

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has pulled out of the negotiations he was having with Arsenal over a new contract, according to Mirror.

Aubameyang has scored 53 goals in 83 games for the Gunners since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and has been one of the few bright spots in the team through the still ongoing period of struggle. He has recently been named captain following the much-discussed woes of Granit Xhaka in that role, though the appointment immediately caused controversy over his alleged linked with Arsenal TV, a popular YouTube channel which has often been accused of spreading negativity about the club.

The 30-year-old’s current deal runs until the end of 2020/21 and the club were keen on securing his services for longer than that, but the striker is apparently frustrated with the club’s lack of progress since the sacking of Arsene Wenger last year and is ready to leave the Emirates next summer.

He has been linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
