Bale wants to stay put

Gareth Bale wants to stay at Real Madrid this summer, according to Spanish TV network La Sexta.

The player who arrived to Santiago Bernabeu from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 for a world-record fee at the time has been a subject of speculation throughout his time in the Spanish capital. Naturally, given the size of the transfer and the fact that he was coming in off the back of a fantastic last season in north London, the expectations were huge. He never managed to secure the status of the team’s main star with Cristiano Ronaldo in the mix of course, and injuries often hampered his contribution on the pitch, but his spectacular goals have reeled in a number of trophies for the Spanish giants over the course of the last six years; not least the 2014 Copa Del Rey and the 2018 Champions League.

However, he has recently often been left out of the starting XI under all three of Zinedine Zidane, Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, and while some believe the return of Zidane may revive his career in Madrid, others claim it will spell the end of it. He has been linked with a host of clubs, but his desire is apparently to stay put.
