Barcelona may be prepared to sell Philippe Coutinho soon, according to Evening Standard.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder spent five years with Liverpool, and grew into one of the finest playmakers in Europe, before putting his strongest effort into forcing a move to Barcelona. After a long and wearying saga, he finally got his wish in January 2018, as Liverpool agreed to do business for €160 million, making him the third most expensive player ever.
Being a left-sided attacking player, Coutinho was seen as a replacement for Neymar, who controversially left for Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee of €222 million, but he was also expected to fill in for the aging Andres Iniesta. However, despite the departure of Iniesta last summer and the disciplinary issues of winger Ousmane Dembele, Coutinho failed to nail down a regular starting spot in either position.
Now, Evening Standard claim he may be sold for Barcelona to be able to fund the return of the player he replaced – Neymar.
