Barca to go back for Willian

Barcelona are considering making another attempt at signing Willian from Chelsea, according to The Telegraph.

The Catalans have already seen their advances rejected by the Londoners twice. They made a bid of £55 million for the Brazilian last summer, and they offered a deal of Malcom plus cash in January.

The winger turns 31 in August this year and he’s about to enter the final 12 months of his contract, which gives Barcelona hope that they will be able to do a cut-price deal this time.

However, Chelsea have been imposed with a two-window transfer ban which they are currently appealing against, and if the decision is upheld, they wouldn’t be able to sign a replacement. This would, naturally, make them highly unlikely to accept any kind of offer for a regular first-team player, and they may relax their notorious rule about offering players over 30 long-term contracts hoping that Willian would sign an extension, or they may hold him to his current deal, accepting his departure on a free next year.
