Barca want Rashford

Barcelona have identified Marcus Rashford of Manchester United as their primary transfer target this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Catalan giants have been looking for a young attacking player with sufficient talent to serve one day as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez. They’ve been heavily linked with Luka Jović, currently on loan at Eintrach Frankfurt from Benfica, but they’ve reportedly moved on from the Serb being unwilling to enter a bidding war against other top clubs interested in him.

Rashford was being considered as an alternative along with Rodrigo Moreno of Valencia and Nicolas Pepe of Lille, and they also contemplated returning for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, but it seems they’ve now settled on the Manchester United academy product.

United have offered the 21-year-old a new contract worth up to £300,000 per week in a bid to ward off interest from elsewhere, but the negotiations haven’t produced results yet.

Barcelona, who have a one-goal lead over United after the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal encounter,  are keen on taking advantage of the situation and willing to part with a sum of £100 million to bring Rashford to Camp Nou.
