Barcelona close to signing Nico Williams

Barcelona are ‘very close’ to signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. Talks between the La Liga champions and the Spain international winger are going very well, with both parties working to iron out the finer details.

The report has claimed that Barcelona will pay Williams’ release clause of €58million. Arsenal and Bayern Munich also want to secure the services of the 22-year-old, but he has turned them down and has said no to them. Williams’s ‘dream’ has always been to play for Barcelona.

Williams has come through Bilbao’s youth system to establish himself in the Basque club’s first team. The winger is a regular in the Spain national football team and won the Euro 2024 finals and reached the final of the UEFA Nations League with his national team. Williams scored 11 goals and gave seven assists in 45 appearances for Bilbao last season.
